Join JM Fortier, Dany Bouchard and the Market Gardener team at Ecolibrium Farms for an in-depth look into the best practices, tools, techniques, and strategies that can help serious growers take their market gardening project to the next level. In this 3-day workshop, the team will share the results of the last 5 years of applied research and development at Ferme des Quatre-Temps through a combination of slides, lecture, interactive dialogue, and hands-on field demonstrations.

  • Keystone elements of the bio-intensive vegetable production model

    • Farm design for maximum efficiency

    • Creating systems for reduction of complexity

    • Tools and appropriate technology

  • An in-depth look into key crops

  • Nursery

    • Learn and apply techniques for tomato grafting

    • Healing process in a healing chamber

  • Weeding & cultivation

    • Practice with weeding tools including mutineer, colinear hoes, wheelhoes, flextine weeder, wire weeder and more!

  • Irrigation

  • Season Extension

    • Build a low tunnel with the team

    • Discuss infrastructure options for season extension including greenhouses, caterpillar tunnels, low tunnels.

  • Crop planning

    • An in depth look into tools and strategies to increase productivity

  • Bed preparation

    • Start your beds from scratch

    • Raise beds with a rotary plow

    • Learn how to use a BCS with a power harrow

    • Try the tilther for a smooth finish
